Exciting Opportunity: HR Business Partner
Working closely with the Chief People Officer to achieve firm-wide strategy, including change, transformation, and projects. This role involves strategic HR business partnering, leading critical organisational change projects, and ensuring people strategies align with business objectives.
About the Role
- Work closely with the Chief People Officer to support HR strategy, transformation, and projects across the business.
- Serve as a strategic HR Business Partner for business teams, leading workforce transformation and organisational change initiatives.
- Provide expert guidance on change, workforce planning, resourcing, employee engagement, and reward strategy, ensuring alignment with HR and business needs.
- Interface with the wider HR team, collaborate with operating partners, and manage & develop one HR Business Partner and Senior HR Advisor.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR & Transformation Leadership
- Partner with senior leaders to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organisational goals and transformation agendas.
- Lead major projects in workforce planning, organisational design, and service transformation, including:
- Target operating model reviews for business teams
- Job evaluation and introduction of a new reward framework
- Use workforce intelligence, data analytics, and benchmarking to enable evidence-based decision-making
- Facilitate cultural change initiatives and ensure effective business communications.
Change Management & Employee Engagement
- Design and implement structured change management strategies for organisational objectives.
- Collaborate with managers on employee engagement and fostering a positive workplace culture.
- Assist leadership in navigating complex employee relations during transformation processes.

Operational & People Leadership
- Provide guidance in performance management, talent development, succession planning, and engagement.
- Act as an internal consultant on leadership development, learning interventions, and organisational capability building.
- Work with the Learning & Development team in designing and evaluating development programmes.
- Coach and mentor managers to improve people management and leadership effectiveness.
HR Operations
- Manage and deliver appraisal, career development, and L&D programmes for business teams in collaboration with Head of People Development.
- Oversee organisational changes, restructures, salary reviews, and budgeting processes.
- Support training design and delivery across business teams.
- Handle day-to-day employee relations, including:
- Disciplinary, performance reviews, and grievance proceedings
- Wellbeing and ill-health absence management
- Flexible working requests
- Mentoring, coaching, and counselling staff as needed
- Conduct exit interviews and act upon key insights.
- Assist with talent acquisition and ensure Joiner/Leaver procedures are executed smoothly.
HR Departmental Responsibilities
- Collaborate with HR leadership to uphold and refine the firm’s people experience.**
- Work in partnership with wider HR teams to develop best-practice policies and initiatives.
- Contribute to the HR function’s high performance, engagement, and expertise through mentorship and strategic input.
About You
The ideal candidate has a professional, communicative, and stakeholder-managed approach, particularly in law/firms/consulting settings. Preferred attributes include:

Specialist Experience
- Senior HR Business Partnering experience, ideally in multi-professional or matrix organisations.
- Proven expertise in change management, workforce transformation, and organisational development.
- Analytical skills with experience using HR metrics, workforce intelligence, and data to inform decisions.
- In-depth knowledge of employment law, HR best practice, and employee relations.
- Demonstrated experience in job evaluation (e.g., Willis Towers Watson) and reward/resourcing.
- Line management or supervisory experience desirable.
Abilities & Desired Qualities
- Demonstrates empathy, collaboration, accountability, and professional courage.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- Pro-active, detail-oriented, and client-focused.
- Maintains confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information.
- Adaptable and willing to travel as necessary.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with HRIS (Factors), NetDocs (document management), and Willis Towers Watson benchmarking tool preferred (but not mandatory).
Education & Professional Requirements
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent).
- Level 7 CIPD certification advantageous.
