About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated HR Consultant to join our dynamic and high-performing team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a proactive HR professional to manage their own client portfolio, providing expert advice and support across a range of HR functions. You will work closely with SME clients, helping them navigate complex employee relations issues, recruitment challenges, and HR compliance matters. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a solutions-oriented approach and a genuine passion for helping businesses succeed through effective people management.
This position involves a mix of advisory work, case management, and strategic HR input. You will have the chance to develop your skills across the full spectrum of HR, recruitment, and learning & development, working directly with business owners and senior managers. The role offers flexibility, with initial office-based training followed by a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to balance your work in a supportive environment with the autonomy to manage your client accounts effectively. Occasional travel to client sites across Suffolk and the UK will be required, providing opportunities for hands-on engagement and relationship building.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record as a generalist HR professional, with experience advising business owners or directors directly. A strong commercial mindset is essential, with the ability to understand and communicate the business implications of HR decisions. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to deliver clear, jargon-free advice, especially when handling sensitive or complex cases.
While CIPD qualification at Level 5 or above is desirable, it is not mandatory if the candidate demonstrates strong commercial experience and a practical approach to HR. Experience in consultancy or SME environments, across various sectors, will be highly valued. Familiarity with psychometric assessment tools and the ability to make sound judgments with incomplete information are advantageous. A valid driver’s license and own transport are preferred, as occasional site visits will be part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of SME clients, acting as their primary point of contact for all HR-related matters.
- Provide expert advice on employee relations, performance management, absence handling, and employment law compliance.
- Collaborate with the recruitment team to support hiring processes and develop assessment skills.
- Draft, review, and update employment contracts, policies, letters, and other HR documentation to ensure legal compliance and best practice.
- Handle complex or sensitive casework, including disciplinaries, grievances, TUPE transfers, and restructures, with confidence and professionalism.
- Work closely with the Director and team members to share knowledge, develop your skills, and contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery.
- Occasionally visit client sites across Suffolk and the UK to provide face-to-face support and strengthen client relationships.
