Human Resources Intern

Unpaid HR Intern (Mixed Jurisdiction – UK/US)

Reporting To: HR Manager / HR Lead

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HR Intern to join our dynamic team on an unpaid basis as part of a hands-on, educational work experience program.

This role aligns with applicable laws under:

  • UK: Sections 44-47 of the National Minimum Wage Act 1998 (exempts voluntary work experience programs from wage requirements).
  • US: Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) structured as an educational and voluntary internship.

Successful candidates will receive reimbursement for work-related expenses (e.g., travel, client meals).


Key Responsibilities

As an HR Intern, you will assist across multiple HR disciplines, including:

  • Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
    • Drafting and posting job descriptions and openings.
    • Coordinating interview scheduling between candidates and hiring managers.
    • Managing and updating candidate databases in Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).

  • Employee Engagement & Culture

    • Assisting in organizing employee engagement initiatives, including events and wellness programs.
    • Supporting diversity, inclusion, and workplace culture efforts.
    • Conducting employee satisfaction surveys and compiling insights.
  • Learning & Development

    • Identifying training needs and helping design materials for internal workshops.
    • Coordinating training sessions, liaising with stakeholders and employees.
    • Tracking participation rates and compiling training feedback reports.
  • HR Operations & Compliance

    • Maintaining employee records, including onboarding and exit documentation.
    • Preparing HR metrics reports (attendance, turnover, headcount).
    • Assisting in policy implementation, ensuring clarity across teams.
    • Contributing to internal compliance audits to uphold labor laws.
  • General Administrative Support

    • Drafting emails, letters, and HR presentations.
    • Assisting in drafting and updating HR policies and internal guidelines.
    • Conducting research into HR trends, technologies, and best practices.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in:
    • Human Resources
    • Business Administration
    • Management
    • or a related field.
  • A strong passion for HR and eagerness to learn and contribute.
