Job Purpose

The HR Manager is a generalist people professional who plays a key operational and advisory role within the Proactis People team. Working closely with managers and employees across the business, the HR Manager is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of HR services, supporting the full employee lifecycle from onboarding through to offboarding.

The role provides first-line guidance on employee relations, HR policy, absence management, and people processes, whilst supporting the delivery of broader people initiatives including engagement, learning and development, and culture. The HR Manager is a trusted point of contact for managers and employees, combining sound HR knowledge with a practical, people-first approach.

Key Responsibilities

HR Generalist Support & Advisory
Provide first-line HR guidance and advisory services across all day-to-day people matters, equipping managers to handle people situations with confidence and in line with policy.

Employee Relations & Case Management
Manage a varied caseload of ER matters including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management and PIPs in a fair, legally compliant, and well-documented manner.

Onboarding & Talent Acquisition Support
Partner with hiring managers and talent acquisition to support recruitment processes, right-to-work checks, and deliver a high-quality onboarding experience for all new starters.

HR Data, Reporting & Systems
Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS and produce regular MI reports to support data-driven people decisions on headcount, absence, turnover and recruitment.

Policy, Wellbeing & Employee Engagement
Support the maintenance and communication of HR policies, the employee handbook, and the delivery of engagement and wellbeing initiatives that reflect Proactis values and culture.

Key Skills

  • Minimum 5 years’ HR generalist experience with CIPD Level 5 or above; proven ability to operate independently across the full employee lifecycle in a fast-paced commercial environment
  • Sound knowledge of UK employment law with a track record of managing a varied ER caseload (disciplinaries, grievances, absence, PIPs) to fair, consistent, legally sound outcomes
  • Proficient in HRIS and people data management; strong attention to accuracy, data integrity, and GDPR-compliant record-keeping with ability to produce meaningful MI for stakeholders
  • Excellent communicator and relationship builder; able to handle sensitive conversations with empathy and discretion, and build trust with managers and employees at all levels
  • Highly organised and self-motivated; able to manage a fast-moving, varied workload to a high standard without close supervision, consistently meeting deadlines and quality expectations
