Site-Based HR Manager | FMCG Sector

Company: Brown Brothers Manufacturing Ltd (Part of Browns Food Group)

Location

Kelloholm – Major production facility (500+ headcount)

Compensation & Schedule

  • Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (based on experience)
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
  • Type: Full-time, permanent with immediate start available

The Opportunity

Brown Brothers Manufacturing seeks a decisive, on-site HR Manager to oversee and enhance its HR function. This is a dynamic, high-impact role designed for a hands-on HR business partner, driving cultural transformation and business change initiatives in a fast-paced FMCG environment.


Core Responsibilities & Strategic Projects

You’ll excel in a broad range of complex responsibilities:

  • HRIS & Systems Transformation: Lead the optimisation and transition of T&A software (Tensor & Mitrefinch) to ensure seamless data integrity.

  • Talent Development: Launch and embed the new Personal Development Programme (Clearview, One Advanced). Monitor progress and site-wide adoption.

  • Learning & Development (L&D): Partner with Group leadership to design and implement upskilling programs tailored for the entire site.

  • Employee Relations (ER): Take full accountability for disciplinary procedures, grievances, dispute resolution, and workplace appeals.

  • Performance Metrics & Retention: Champion the site’s Performance and Development Review (PDR) cycle to enhance employee morale, engagement, and operational excellence.

  • Compliance & Payroll Integrity: Audit personnel records, T&A systems, and payroll data for accuracy. Collaborate with Health & Safety teams on regulatory compliance.

  • Team Leadership: Oversee and mentor a 5-person HR team including:

    • 1 x Talent & Recruitment Specialist
    • 1 x Training Coordinator
    • 1 x HR Graduate
    • 2 x HR Administrators

Requirements

Leading this critical role demands distinction in the following areas:

  • Qualifications: CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma is highly preferred. Active candidates pursuing this with substantial equivalent expertise are also considered.

  • Experience: Minimum five years in HR Management, with a focus on manufacturing, logistics, or FMCG industries in high-intensity environments.

  • Industrial Relations: Proven ability to negotiate, mediate with, and align effectively with trade unions.

  • Technical Skills: Strong analytical mindset with thorough familiarity of HRIS platforms. Exceptional attention to timekeeping, attendance, and payroll data.

  • Leadership & Mindset: Autonomy, proactive decision-making, and people-centred ethics required. Ability to manage high-pressure demands of a multi-hundred employee site.
