HR Assistant Manager – Financial Services

6 month contract | City based (Hybrid) | To £60,000

Our client is a rapidly growing financial services leader, scaling up in the UK and Europe. We are seeking an experienced HR professional to join their fast-paced, regulated environment.


About the Role

This role requires an individual with strong exposure to the full employee lifecycle, excellent HR advisory capability, and a thorough understanding of UK employment law and internal governance requirements. The successful candidate will balance strategic HR priorities with day-to-day operational delivery, ensuring accurate, compliant, and people-focused support across the business.


Responsibilities

  • Provide clear and pragmatic HR advice to managers, including leading investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes, and facilitating informal conflict resolution.
  • Oversee payroll accuracy and approvals across multiple locations, manage benefits administration, and coordinate the annual Fitness and Propriety certification process for Senior Managers and Certified staff (SMCR).
  • Support HR Assistants, coordinate employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives, and partner with managers to identify development needs and align training with performance outcomes.
  • Ensure HR policies, procedures, and workflows remain compliant with GDPR and/current legislation, collaborating with legal advisers where necessary for complex cases.
  • Contribute to HR projects supporting continuous improvement objectives, and provide operational cover for HR team members as required.
  • Demonstrate quickly built trust and clear, confident communication across all levels of the organisation.
  • Exercise strong judgement, credibility, and influence while maintaining integrity and a people-first perspective.
  • Be highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working under pressure, offering an energetic, solutions-focused mindset.

Requirements

  • CIPD qualification at Level 5 or 7 (or Associate/Chartered Membership) required.
  • 4-5 years of experience at HR Advisor or HR Manager level.
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Payroll processes
    • UK employment law
    • ACAS guidance
    • HR best practice
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with high confidentiality and discretion.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
  • Experience in the financial services sector highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with French or Dubai employment law & payroll regulations advantageous.
