The Role
We are seeking a Human Rights Manager (HRDD) to lead the Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) agenda within Thistle Seafoods’ supply chain. In this critically important role, you will:
- Identify, prevent, mitigate, and account for human rights risks across our operations and supply chains.
- Shape and champion Thistle Seafoods' global position as a trailblazing leader in ethical seafood sourcing.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Define Thistle Seafoods’ HRDD strategy and policies within seafood supply chains, ensuring industry leadership in emerging and existing topics.
- Lead the HRDD agenda within the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team.
- Monitor and manage key HRDD KPIs to drive progress and accountability.
- Map supply chains to pinpoint high-risk geographies and sectors.

Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement
- Proactively engage retail customers, supply chain partners, and third-party stakeholders to influence and shape HRDD standards.
- Collaborate with UK and international regulatory bodies to shape evolving legislation on human rights and business practices.
- Act as the subject-matter expert in ethical seafood sourcing across global, multinational supply chains.
Risk Mitigation & Compliance
- Conduct supply chain human rights risk assessments to detect and address emerging risks.
- Identify and partner with critical third parties to assist in HRDD risk assessment and management.
- Develop and implement action plans to prevent or mitigate risks, ensuring threshold suppliers adopt best practice.
- Benchmark against established frameworks to set industry standards.
Training & Awareness
- Deliver customs training and raise awareness among employees, suppliers, and partners on responsible sourcing practices.
- Advise senior leadership on additional HRDD-related responsibilities as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Technical Knowledge & Expertise
- Extensive knowledge of international human rights legislation, with a focus on fish, food, ingredients, and packaging.
- Strong understanding of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles.
- Proven risk analysis and responsible sourcing experience, preferably within the UK food sector.

Employment
Hours & Conditions
- 40-hour workweek, with flexible scheduling to accommodate operational needs.
- Target core hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with potential ad-hoc travel requirements.
