Company that specialises in high voltage (HV) systems up to 33kV, requires an HV Engineer to join their friendly, busy and growing team.

Experts in the installation, commissioning, fault-finding, testing and maintenance of HV equipment, including switchgear and transformers, the organisation has a reputation for offering its people excellent training and development opportunities and is recognised within the industry as a great place to work.

About the Role

The HV Engineer role is a hands-on job, with frequent site visits. Duties will include:

  • Maintaining electrical equipment (LV, 11kV and 33kV), such as protection relays, transformers and switchgear
  • Fault-finding on LV and HV equipment and responding to emergency call outs
  • Interpreting electrical schematics and drawings
  • Carrying out isolations and Authorised Person (AP) / Senior Authorised Person (SAP) duties when qualified to do so
  • The issue and acceptance of Permits to Work (PTW) for the safe operation of HV systems
  • Carrying out site surveys
  • Testing, commissioning and maintenance of HV equipment
  • Carrying out all duties in accordance with health and safety legislation
  • Representing the company on site

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience working on HV systems
  • The ability to use HV testing equipment
  • Demonstrable knowledge of electrical safety rules and isolations
  • Qualification in Electrical Engineering, e.g. HNC
  • Driving licence
  • Whilst most work is within 80 miles of the office, some is further afield so a willingness to travel and, occasionally, stay away is required
  • Problem-solving and communication skills
