Salary: £38,210 per annum Working Pattern: 5 over 7 days – 7.30am to 4.30pm

About the Role
A Team Leader position is available at the HWRC site in Frizlands Lane, Dagenham. You will support the powerful and efficient operation of the site whilst maintaining compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees the day-to-day operation of the site
- Ensures always a safe working environment
- Verifies the site is compliant in line with Environmental Agency (EA) regulations
- Conducts site walk rounds at regular intervals, instructing staff on-site to address any issues
- Supports weighbridge operations and meet & greet processes, troubleshooting issues during waste acceptance
- Assists site-based staff with operational issues, including covering breaks as required
- Ensures all defects to mobile plant and site are reported promptly
- Completes core documentation, including:
- Fire log
- Environmental log
- Team leader checks
- Ladder inspections
- Legionella checks
- Daily checks for remaining site books (e.g., mobile plant, weighbridge books, ensuring proper completion)
- Weekly sign-offs on key records
- Manages concern reporting systems; organises monthly SHEQ tours
- Delivers SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) inductions, risk assessments, toolbox talks, and other communications to the site team
- Maintains optimal waste levels; raises stock update issues during the 0845 daily call
- Shares best practices and suggests new initiatives to improve recycling or site operations
- Ensures adequate staff coverage every week
- Works closely with the Training Coordinator to arrange staff training courses
- Keeps the site manager updated on any operational issues promptly
