Our Sustainable Water Management Team is looking for Senior and Principal Hydrologists to deliver and lead flood risk management projects across the UK. You will work alongside fluvial and pluvial modelling specialists, contribute to nationally important studies and guide the development of junior hydrologists.
This is an opportunity to take a visible role in our national hydrology capability, influence major infrastructure projects and help drive innovation across the flood risk sector.
Why this role is a strong opportunity Lead high profile hydrology work You will deliver complex hydrology studies using recognised UK methods for government, local authority and major infrastructure clients.
Shape and grow our national hydrology capability You will help set technical direction, improve approaches and contribute to innovation across our hydrology and modelling services.
Work across major sectors You will support FCERM studies, infrastructure planning, energy projects, transport schemes and strategic flood risk work.
Develop others and build leadership skills You will mentor junior hydrologists and support the continued growth of our national team.
Flexible career development We offer progression opportunities at both Senior and Principal levels, with flexible working and support for chartership.
What you will do
- Provide technical leadership for flood hydrology using statistical, ReFH and other UK standard methods.
- Deliver hydrology studies for complex catchments and challenging datasets.
- Conduct independent technical reviews and quality assurance.
- Prepare clear technical reports, presentations and client deliverables.
- Mentor and support junior hydrologists in developing their skills.
- Contribute to business development and proposal preparation.
- Manage project delivery including commercial, financial and programme elements.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- Proven experience delivering hydrology studies using UK standard methods.
- Experience undertaking hydrology reviews for statutory bodies.
- Understanding of hydraulic modelling methods.
- Commercial awareness including project management and bid support.
- Experience delivering work for local authority, national government or infrastructure clients.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build client relationships.
- Chartered status or working toward chartership.
- Useful additional experience could include GIS, FCERM studies, Flood Risk Assessments, flood policy knowledge or flood modelling.
