Hygiene Area Manager – Job Description
About the Role
The Hygiene Area Manager oversees hygiene operations across a defined production area, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and quality standards. This role leads and develops hygiene teams, optimises cleaning processes, and supports food safety, quality, and manufacturing targets. You will coordinate resources, ensure Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance, and oversee waste management and environmental compliance.
Your responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing hygiene teams, including induction, training, performance evaluation, and shift coordination
- Achieving KPIs related to hygiene standards, microbiological performance, quality, cost, and people management
- Planning and executing safe and effective cleaning procedures to minimise microbiological risks
- Managing chemical supplies to ensure correct use in line with CICs (Cleaning In Control) and manufacturer guidelines
- Collaborating with production and other teams to support manufacturing targets
- Maintaining high standards of waste management, segregation, and compliance
- Fostering a strong Health & Safety culture, embedding safe working practices
- Investigating hygiene/microbiological incidents and implementing effective corrective actions
