Our Grocery Service Centre, based near Liverpool, is a hub for transactional activity across multiple ABF companies within the ABF Grocery division. Supporting some of our well-known brands such as Kingsmill, Pataks, Blue Dragon, Jordans, Ryvita and Silver Spoon, amongst others. We deliver Shared Service activities across a wide range of disciplines including Customer Services, Consumer Care, Finance, Payroll, HR and IS.

Overview Of Role

Location: Hovis Bakeries, Newcastle Under Lyme

Hours: Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to join us as Hygiene Coordinator. The Hygiene Coordinator is responsible for planning, directing and controlling all hygiene related activities. The role ensures safe working practices, compliances and driving hygiene standards by overseeing team safety, equipment isolation, chemical control and contractor management.

The role will be responsible for planning and overseeing all aspects of our Plant Shutdowns, working closely with the Hygiene FLM to ensure compliance with site rules, HSE legislation, COSHH and hygiene standards.

An integral part of the site team, the Hygiene Coordinator will seek ways to improve systems and techniques, undertake ‘specialist tasks’ as appropriate and will provide guidance, support and training to other members of the Hygiene team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Control of day to day and shutdown activity, ensuring that all appropriate schedules/procedures are in place and adhered to.
  • Identify and plan the training and development needs of the Hygiene team, including the delivery of shift briefings and feedback.
  • Develop defined working practices to deliver continuous improvement in environmental Hygiene and regular validation of cleaning practices, including mould control.
  • Coordination of all on-site waste removal.
  • Control and management of Hygiene contractors, including liaison with pest control.
  • Maintain documentation sufficient to demonstrate due diligence.
  • Supervise Hygiene activities ensuring that objectives are carried out in a safe manner working within Safe Systems of Work and COSHH, as well as working with the team to further develop safe systems.
  • Organise high level, in-depth cleaning.

The Right Person

The ideal candidate will be PC literate and have excellent overall administration skills.

  • Experience in a customer facing role with a focus on standards would be advantageous.
  • The role requires someone who can work on their own initiative and encourage and motivate others.
  • You must have strong organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to prioritise.
  • An intermediate level Food Hygiene qualification is desirable but not essential, as well as previous experience within an FMCG environment.
  • Experience of Chemical Safety and Pest Control.
  • IOSH Managing Safely would be advantageous.
  • Competent Microsoft User
