Hygiene Manager - Coventry
Salary: Up to £50,000
Purpose and Scope of Job
Smooth day-to-day Management / Supervision of the hygiene team at Guenther Bakery. Providing direction, guidance, training and support to employees within your area of responsibility.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a professional and proactive business relationship with all levels of client’s representatives, whilst promoting the Company.
- Deal with all complaints efficiently & in a professional manner.
- Ensure that all staff are correctly attired in accordance with company & client procedures.
- Encourage safe working practices at all times & ensure that all staff have a good understanding of all duties undertaken.
- Ensure that all staff are present, accounted for & that the shift runs as smoothly as possible.
- Ensure that all staff have the relevant PPE & that it is worn & used correctly.
- Ensure all employees are trained and developed for every task. This responsibility includes identification of training needs, recommending training programmes, monitoring and evaluating the effect of the training.
- Ensure good use of time during shift times, whist maintaining a proactive approach to maintain & improve productivity.
- Working on own initiative with a proactive approach to work areas & staff allocation, whilst looking for areas/items not within the scope of works to improve customer relationships & services delivery.
- Assisting staff where needed & maintain regular communication throughout the shift to ensure staff are fully supported at all times. Working with the best interests of the company & colleagues to maintain & improve staff morale.
- Plan and allocate work to ensure effective use of staff and equipment.
- Allocation of staff to meet service requirements.
- Maintain labour within agreed budget levels.
- To ensure that all cleaning tasks are carried out as detailed by the Cleaning Instruction Cards / work schedule / specification, to agreed standard.
- Ensure that standards are consistently achieved and maintained. Carry out regular audits on standards, document failures, put in place procedures to stop re-occurrence. Analyse audit reports & ensure failures are actioned & improvements are carried out immediately.
- Ensure that all employees adhere to the company/client Isolation/lock off procedures of dangerous machinery prior to cleaning, as trained.
- Implement & Supervision of Company’s Health & Safety policy.
- Ensure correct use of hazardous chemicals – acids / alkalis “as trained”.
- Supervision of the safe & correct use of equipment/chemicals & ensure that they are fit for purpose i.e.: Valid PAT Test & in good condition.
- Ensure that all staff work the correct number of hours & adhere to the signing in & out procedures.
- Following of instructions from your Line Manager to provide flexibility required to maintain and meet the service requirements in an ever changing/evolving environment.
- Team building and promoting a harmonious working environment within the team & assist staff where necessary.
- Attend internal & external training sessions if required.
- Adherence to the company’s policy on equal opportunities.
- Adherence to the company’s policies, procedures and systems in accordance with the relevant manuals.
- Adherence to all clients’ policies & procedures.
- Management of all Sub Contractors, when required.
- A Flexible approach to meet the changing needs of the business.
- Carry out any other duties in consultation with which may be required to meet the changing needs of the business.

- Completion & submission of all documentation in line with agreed deadlines in consultation with the client.
- Conduct return to work interviews for all periods of sickness/absence when required.
- Report & carry out a complete investigation of all incidents and accidents involving machinery or equipment with the guidance Employee Relations.
- Ensuring all accident reporting procedures are followed & completion of documentation.
