We’re looking for a dedicated and hardworking Hygiene Operative to join our friendly and fast-paced food manufacturing team. If you take pride in high standards, enjoy hands-on work, and want to play a vital role in keeping food production safe and efficient, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

This is an active, practical role where no two days are the same. You’ll be working with specialist equipment to keep our machinery and site spotless, helping ensure we deliver quality products our customers can trust.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled deep cleaning of production machinery and equipment
  • Dismantle and reassemble machinery to ensure effective and thorough cleaning
  • Clean and sanitise all food production equipment, utensils, and surfaces in line with hygiene standards
  • Maintain cleanliness of all internal areas, including floors, walls, and ceilings
  • Ensure external areas, including yards and waste/compactor zones, are kept clean and tidy
  • Clean and manage waste bins across the site
  • Operate specialist cleaning equipment, including jet washers and industrial vacuums
  • Follow hygiene schedules and complete all relevant documentation accurately
  • Handle and use cleaning chemicals safely in accordance with COSHH regulations
  • Adhere to HACCP, GMP, Food Safety, and Health & Safety policies at all times
  • Work safely in environments that may be warm, wet, dusty, or confined, and at height where required
  • Always wear appropriate PPE and ensure it is maintained correctly
  • Report any hygiene, safety, or maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with production and hygiene teams to support efficient operations

  • Monday - Thursday 9am-5pm
  • Fri 9am-4:30pm
  • Sat 9am-12pm
  • (potential for Wednesday 7-3).

Experience

  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing or factory cleaning environment (preferred)
  • Knowledge of COSHH, Health & Safety, and food safety standards (desirable)
  • Experience using industrial cleaning equipment (desirable)
  • Food Safety Level 2 qualification (desirable)
  • Physically capable of carrying out manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in demanding conditions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, industrial environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Reliable, flexible, and proactive approach to work
