Job Opportunity: Hygienist – Orthodontic Specialist Practice
Location: Portman Smile Clinic, Bicester, Oxfordshire Clinic Specialism: Orthodontics (private & NHS)
A dynamic opportunity to join Portman Smile Clinic, a modern, purpose-built specialist orthodontic practice in central Bicester. We offer treatments for both NHS and private patients and are seeking an experienced Hygienist to lead and expand our direct-access hygiene service.
About the Role
This is a highly autonomous role, ideal for a skilled Hygienist who wants to develop and manage the practice’s hygiene provision independently. You’ll work across all internal referrals and direct-access patients, guided by the clinic’s ethos of excellence and patient-centred care.
The position starts with one day per month (Monday), scaling gradually to bi-weekly, then weekly as required. Additional nurse support will be available.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality preventative and therapeutic hygiene treatments to a diverse patient base—including those in orthodontic care and those seeking general hygiene services
- Work within a fast-growing team in a current, spacious clinic with ongoing expansion
- Collaborate with experienced teams including Nurses, Treatment Coordinators, and Practice Manager (with over 10 years’ sector experience)
- Integrate into an AI-enabled practice using Heidi Health for digital notes, enhancing efficiency and patient care

About the Practice
Portman Smile Clinic Bicester is part of PortmanDentex, a group committed to modern dental approaches leveraging AI and digital dentistry. Currently using Heidi Health, we are advancing patient records via AI-powered transcription.

Requirements
Essential:
- GDC-registered Hygienist or Dental Therapist willing to practice as a Hygienist
- Experience of working in direct access
- Fully indemnified for direct access work
- Radiography clearance
- Chapter 8 or exempt letter training completed
