Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer
Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer to join a growing internal IT function during a period of significant transformation. This is a hands-on role where you'll play a key part in modernising the organisation's identity platforms, improving user experience, and strengthening security across a global technology environment.
You'll initially focus on supporting a major IAM transformation programme, including the migration to a new identity platform, before evolving into a broader governance and optimisation role. This position offers the opportunity to shape how identity services are delivered, influence future security initiatives, and work closely with infrastructure, security, architecture, and application teams.
If you're looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact, work with modern IAM technologies, and help build best practices within a collaborative and fast-growing business, this is an excellent opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Administer and support enterprise Identity & Access Management platforms including Okta, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Support a major IAM transformation programme, including migration activities from legacy identity platforms.
- Configure and maintain Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and SCIM provisioning across business applications.
- Integrate new SaaS and enterprise applications using SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), APIs and related authentication technologies.
- Manage user lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding and access management.
- Work closely with Infrastructure, Security, Architecture and Application teams to deliver secure identity solutions.
- Act as the technical point of contact for external managed service providers, coordinating project delivery, escalations and service improvements.
- Support quality assurance processes, maintaining development, test and production environments for IAM deployments.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of authentication policies, conditional access and overall identity security.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and support guides.
- Identify opportunities to improve end-user experience by simplifying authentication and reducing unnecessary user friction.
- Support governance initiatives, helping establish robust IAM processes, standards and documentation as the platform matures.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
