IAM SME/Technical Analyst

IAM SME | Technical Analyst

Global Banking Organisation London | 4 days a week (in-office) £690 per day | (Inside IR35) | 6-month contract

About the Role

Senior Techno-Functional SME specialising in Identity and Access Management (IAM), Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), Cloud, and Data Security (Varonis). Acts as a critical bridge between business, cybersecurity, and engineering to drive identity-led security solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements Management:

    • Gather, analyse, and translate business and security needs into IAM and Cloud Security solutions.
  • Azure AD & Identity Lifecycle Management:

    • Support design and enhancement of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including:
      • Identity Lifecycle Management (JML)
      • SSO (Single Sign-On)
      • MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication)
      • Conditional Access policies
      • PIM (Privileged Identity Management)
      • Identity Protection
  • Access & Security Governance:

    • Define IAM requirements across Azure, AWS, and SaaS environments, implementing:
      • RBAC (Role-Based Access Control), ABAC (Attribute-Based Access Control)
      • Zero Trust architecture
      • Least-privilege access controls
      • Privileged access management

  • Security & Compliance:

    • Perform gap analyses, impact assessments, and support remediation of security control weaknesses
    • Contribute to data security and access governance (using Varonis), including:
      • Data classification
      • Access monitoring & auditing
    • Ensure consistent identity, access, and data governance across AD/LDAP, HR systems, and enterprise applications
  • Application & Workflow Support:

    • Assess secure onboarding of applications and SaaS platforms in hybrid identity environments (Active Directory & Entra ID)
    • Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing), solution validation, and implementation, ensuring alignment with:
      • Business needs
      • Security & regulatory requirements
  • Collaboration & Oversight:

    • Work closely with Security, Risk, Engineering, HR, Data teams, and Project Managers to deliver:
      • Secure IAM solutions
      • Successful project outcomes
    • Manage access governance, Separation of Duties (SoD), regulatory compliance, and audit remediation activities

Key Skills & Experience

  • IAM Expertise:

    • Extensive experience as a Techno-Functional Analyst/IAM SME in Financial Services
    • Proven expertise in IAM frameworks and Cloud Security principles
  • Cloud & Hybrid Environments:

    • Hands-on experience with Azure AD, AWS, and SaaS platforms
    • Strong working knowledge of:
      • Conditional Access, PIM, SSO, and identity federation
      • Hybrid IAM integrations (AD & Entra ID)
  • Data Security & Compliance:

    • Competency in Varonis or similar data security tools
    • Understanding of data security initiatives, IAM integrations, and enterprise governance
  • Regulatory & Audit Compliance:

    • Deep knowledge of regulatory and audit requirements in Financial Services
    • Experience with cloud security (Azure/AWS Security best practices)
  • Certifications (Preferred):

    • CISSP, CISM, or IAM-related qualifications
