IAM Technical Lead
Contract | Remote (Monthly On-site) | Initial Contract Until End of Year | Financial Services
We are looking for an experienced IAM Technical Lead to join a major Financial Services organisation delivering a large-scale Identity & Access Management (IAM) transformation programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide technical leadership across a strategic IAM workstream, helping shape the future of enterprise identity capabilities. You'll be responsible for defining the technical direction, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable and operationally supportable, while working closely with architects, engineering teams and business stakeholders in a complex enterprise environment.
The Role
As the IAM Technical Lead, you will own the technical solution for your workstream, driving architecture, engineering standards and delivery across modern identity services. You'll champion Identity-first and Zero Trust principles while ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture, security and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the technical architecture and solution design for the IAM workstream
- Produce and maintain High Level Designs (HLDs) and Low Level Designs (LLDs)
- Lead technical decision-making and technology selection
- Ensure alignment with Enterprise Architecture, Security and Regulatory standards
- Drive adoption of Zero Trust and Identity-first security principles
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams
- Review solution designs, code and infrastructure changes
- Manage technical risks, assumptions and dependencies
- Coordinate integration activities across internal teams and third-party suppliers
- Support delivery planning, estimation and technical governance
- Define and assure non-functional requirements including availability, resilience, scalability, performance, observability and security
- Ensure solutions are production-ready and operationally supportable
- Promote engineering best practice, DevSecOps and continuous improvement

Required Experience
We're looking for candidates who have experience leading technical delivery within enterprise IAM programmes, ideally within regulated Financial Services environments.

- Enterprise Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Technical Leadership and Solution Architecture
- High Level and Low Level Design (HLD/LLD)
- Agile delivery methodologies
- Stakeholder management across technical and business teams
- Strong understanding of security architecture and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills
- Experience working within complex global organisations
- Ability to lead distributed engineering teams across multiple countries and time zones
