I&C Project Manager – Nuclear Island
Sizewell C is part of the UK’s newest nuclear power plant project, currently in an exciting phase of growth. Our company is managed under OFGEM’s Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model, closely replicating the successful Hinkley Point C construction strategy while innovating to achieve ~20% time and cost savings. Fully funded after Financial Completion and Revenue Commencement, it is jointly owned by HM Government, La Caisse, Centrica, EDF, and Amber Infrastructure.
We are now seeking a dedicated and experienced [I&C Project Manager – Nuclear Island] to help deliver the instrumentation and control systems for Sizewell C, ensuring safety, quality, and efficient project execution.
Location & Working Arrangements
Primary Hubs: London/Bristol (with expected travel to Sizewell C). Contract: Permanent, full-time.

Your Impact
As I&C Project Manager, you will lead end-to-end delivery of Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems, structures, and components (SSCs), supporting:
- Engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
- £150m+ I&C-systems contracts, including:
- Standard I&C
- Safety and Backup I&C
- Main Control Room
- Industrial Information and Monitoring Systems
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams to deliver I&C scope on time, to budget, in quality, through procurement and construction.
- Oversee procurement & contract execution, ensuring alignment with supply chain ideals (replicating Hinkley’s lessons learned).
- Monitor progress, manage risks/opportunities, and drive the “UK-EPR Fleet Effect” (leveraging technical and commercial synergies with other EPR projects in the UK and Europe).
- Key focus areas: Obsolescence, cybersecurity, material efficiency in contract design.
- Manage interfaces—internally (SSCs, commissions) and externally (civil works, commissioning, regulatory bodies like Environmental Justice Ltd/HSE).
- Ensure Lessons-Learned adoption from SZC and broader EPR projects across Europe and the UK.
- Close out procurement/commercial claims, negotiating efficiently where needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Solid background in Instrumentation & Control (I&C), electrical, or process/systems engineering—preferably for major industrial plants.
- Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary design, procurement, construction, and EPCM project delivery.
- Experience in:
- Budget, schedule, and claims management (via Earned Value tools).
- Contract close-out, negotiation, and commercial claim resolution.
- Lifecycle project management (from concept to handover).
- Exceptional communication & stakeholder management—interfacing with both client/contractor teams and diverse project profiles.

Desirable (but not mandatory):
- Nuclear industry experience (SMRs, EPR, or legacy reactors).
- Formal Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
- Direct nuclear power station contract management (procurement of equipment/installation).
- Working knowledge of French (an advantage).
