The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Infrastructure and Platforms Specialist. As a Cloud Infrastructure and Platforms Specialist, you will be responsible for developing cloud infrastructure and platforms, including infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platforms as a service (PaaS) within the South Wales Police managed cloud tenants. Within the role, you may supervise junior ICT Specialists, and you will play a crucial role in ensuring service availability, security and standards compliance as well as driving process improvements and enhancing system performance.
Responsibilities:
- Implement, configure and maintain managed cloud solutions.
- Design and deploy cloud infrastructure, including compute and platform services.
- Oversee cloud performance tuning, policy and management.
- Develop and maintain documentation for cloud processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve system issues.
- Develop and maintain security protocols for cloud solutions.
- Plan and execute disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
- To provide IT specialist advice to business users and IT peers for your specialist technological area.
- Manage Technical Staff within your technical area.
Requirements:
- Must be qualified to Degree level standard or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.
- Experience of designing, implementing and technically leading on some of the following areas:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Must be aware of the strategic operational implications of effective IT upon the organisation.

Where you’ll fit in:
This Cloud Infrastructure and Platforms Specialist role will work in the Technical Standards section of the ICT Department and will reports to the Technical Standards manager. Our Information and Communications Technology Department (ICT) has a wide and varied range of responsibilities from 1st line service desk, 2nd line technical support to 3rd line specialist technical architect/design. ICT are also responsible for IT Security management, Service Management, Business Support and Project Management that maintain and continuously improve critical services, software, platforms, and hardware required throughout the full IT lifecycle. This underpins the delivery of secure and timely 24/7 operations for approximately 10,000 users across 100 geographical locations supporting over 20,000 computers including multiple datacentres together with the underlying network, physical and virtual (including cloud services) IT infrastructure.

O fewn y rôl, gallwch oruchwylio Arbenigwyr TGCh iau, a byddwch yn chwarae rhan hanfodol wrth sicrhau argaeledd gwasanaeth, diogelwch a chydymffurfiaeth safonau yn ogystal â hyrwyddo gwelliannau i brosesau a gwella perfformiad system.

- Cydweithio â thimau traws-swyddogaethol i nodi a datrys problemau system.
- Datblygu a chynnal protocolau diogelwch ar gyfer datrysiadau cwmwl.
- Cynllunio a gweithredu gweithdrefnau adfer ar ôl trychineb a pharhad busnes.
- Darparu cyngor TG arbenigol i ddefnyddwyr busnes a chyfoedion TG ar gyfer eich maes technolegol arbenigol.
- Rheoli Staff Technegol o fewn eich maes technegol.
