ICT Systems Developer
VolkerWessels UK is a market leading contracting group of five closely linked businesses.
We provide integrated and ground-breaking solutions for the civil engineering and construction sectors, with specialisms in rail, highways, airports, marine, defence, energy, water, and environmental infrastructure.
VolkerWessels UK is seeking a Systems Developer to support the design, development, and maintenance of business-critical applications across the organisation. This role plays a key part in delivering secure, scalable, and high-quality software solutions that underpin operational performance.
You’ll work across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to new application development, system enhancements, and cloud-based integrations. You will also collaborate closely with project teams, stakeholders, and support functions to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement of systems and processes.
Please note that this is a permanent, full-time role, based onsite in Hoddesdon.
About Our Role
- Develop, maintain, and support applications, integrations, and software solutions.
- Enhance existing systems and ensure performance, reliability, and data integrity.
- Work with Azure technologies including Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Key Vault, and API Management.
- Support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and support teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
- Adhere to development standards, security controls, and governance requirements.

Essential
About you
- Experience with Azure cloud technologies, including Logic Apps and Azure Functions.
- Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, and web services.
- Knowledge of Git and CI/CD practices.
- Experience supporting applications in a live environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a structured approach to work.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Customer-focused with a strong service mindset.
- Proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning.
- Able to manage competing priorities effectively.
Desirable
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform).
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Exposure to Power Platform or Dataverse.
