ICT Technical Architect - Cambs

Cambridgeshire Constabulary Police Staff Permanent Full Time ICT Headquarters, Huntingdon, Cambs MB1 £48,309 Market Rate Supplement 15,178.69 37

Shape the future of policing technology. Drive innovation. Deliver impact where it matters most.

We’re seeking a skilled, motivated, and forward-thinking Technical Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture team within the collaborative Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire (BCH) ICT Department.

This is more than just an architecture role, it’s an opportunity to work at the forefront of modern policing technology, influencing how critical systems are designed, secured and delivered to support front-line officers and operational services.

The Role

Working alongside Principal Technical Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering secure, resilient, and scalable technology solutions across a diverse portfolio of major change initiatives, from local digital transformation through to regional and national platforms.

You Will

  • Develop target architecture and solution designs aligned to business and operational needs, balancing performance, scalability, usability and security
  • Work across complex, integrated technology landscapes, ensuring solutions are coherent, supportable and aligned to enterprise and national standards
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor, providing guidance to delivery teams, SMEs, suppliers, and stakeholders, including initiatives outside formal Enterprise Architecture governance
  • Support the adoption of innovative and emerging technologies to enhance policing capability and efficiency
  • Crucially, you will operate with delegated authority to make solution-level architectural decisions, analysing technical constraints, resolving complex design challenges, and actively managing technical risk to ensure solutions are robust, supportable, and aligned to enterprise principles.

Through your work, you will help ensure that technology delivers real operational value, improves resilience, and supports the critical services that keep our communities safe.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
