Reports To: School Principal (through designated line manager)
Responsible For: Up to five staff members
Job Purpose
To assist the line manager in developing ICT within the school and ensure all computer systems and peripheral devices are maintained to meet the school’s operational needs.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
**Supervision (Discretionary)
- Allocate, control, and monitor work of appropriate staff
- Identify and provide on-the-job training to staff as needed
Provision and Maintenance of ICT Facilities & Resources
Hardware & Infrastructure
- Maintain school-owned microcomputer systems and peripheral devices in good working order
- Co-ordinate repairs of ICT-related equipment
- Liaise with authorised repair agencies as required
- Assist in installing ICT hardware and ensuring operational success
- Perform routine software operations (e.g. upgrades, maintenance)
Software & Security
- Create backup copies of software for security
- Install software on school-managed networks and stand-alone systems
- Make minor adjustments to software (with permission)
- Maintain the school website
- Liaise with managed service providers to support Classroom 2000 infrastructure
Curricular & Administrative Support
- Develop, maintain, and operate manual/computerised systems for administrative tasks
- Maintain inventory/records of departmental resources
- Assist with purchasing, receiving, checking, storing, and distributing resources

General Responsibilities
- Support staff in ensuring pupil safety
- Assist with emergency evacuations as needed
- Undertake photocopying duties on request
(Technical staff may also be required to:)
- Handle cash for purchasing practical materials
- Assist with hospitality at meetings/functions
- Perform minor maintenance (e.g. furniture, equipment)
Flexibility
This role is subject to review based on evolving school needs. Additional duties of a similar nature may be assigned, depending on the grade.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Qualifications
- Five GCSEs (Grades A-C)* in English Language, Mathematics, and ICT/Digital Technologies, or equivalent/higher-level qualifications
Experience
- At least 1 year in a technical support environment

Knowledge
- Demostrable knowledge of:
- ICT Technician responsibilities
- Relevant health and safety regulations
- General administrative processes and record-keeping
Interview Criteria (Skills & Abilities)
- Proven planning/organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure
- Effective people management
- Adaptability as part of a team to achieve outcomes
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills
- Profficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Values Alignment
- Evidence that your experience reflects the school’s values/ethos (details on website).
Desirable (Shortlisting Preferred)
- Experience working in an ICT/Digital Technologies role within a school environment
- Prior experience as an ICT/Audio-Visual Technician
Safeguarding Requirements
- Should you be appointed, this role qualifies as ‘regulated activity’ under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Northern Ireland) Order 2007.
- An Enhanced Disclosure Certificate will be required at the pre-employment stage. You will cover the cost.
