We’re recruiting an Identity and Access Administrator to join our ICT team at Milton Keynes City Council.
You’ll be part of a dedicated team focused on protecting our systems, data and colleagues by ensuring secure and reliable access across the organisation. You’ll play a key role in managing how colleagues access systems, helping us keep services safe and resilient for our communities.
Job Description
This is a rewarding role where your expertise helps protect sensitive information and supports the smooth running of council services.
This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home-based roles require a minimum of one day per week working from the office or site.

Main Responsibilities
- Manage the full identity lifecycle using Microsoft Entra ID, including user access, group membership, and permissions.
- Design, maintain and review conditional access and security policies to protect council systems.
- Administer Microsoft Intune to support secure and compliant devices across the organisation.
- Monitor and respond to security alerts, working with colleagues to investigate and resolve incidents.
- Configure data protection controls to ensure sensitive information is shared safely and appropriately.
- Produce clear reports and recommendations to help improve the council’s security posture.

Ideal Candidate
You bring:
- Experience in identity and access management, with a strong understanding of how to manage user access securely.
- Ability to work with Microsoft security tools to support and protect systems effectively.
- Experience in monitoring and responding to security risks, allowing you to act quickly and confidently when needed.
- A strong understanding of data protection and compliance to safeguard sensitive information.
- Confidence when working with colleagues to explain technical issues in a clear and supportive way.
- Proven skills in problem-solving to investigate issues and identify practical solutions.
- An approach that demonstrates our values of being dedicated, respectful and collaborative in everything you do.
- A commitment to learning and adapting to stay up to date with evolving technologies and threats.

Role Types
Our roles are either designated site-based or home-based roles:
- Site-based: up to two days per week from home working.
- Home-based: based at home four days per week.
- The need of the service and individual circumstances determine how roles are categorised.
