IDT Containment Lead
IDT Lead – In-Containment Construction
Location: Flexible (Warrington, Derby, or Manchester with hybrid working)
Salary: £71,000 – £93,187 (base) + £5,000 allowance + 17% bonus
About the Role
Rolls-Royce SMR is revolutionising low-carbon energy through its small modular reactor programme. This initiative delivers affordable, scalable nuclear power, driving global decarbonisation. We are seeking an IDT Lead – In-Containment Construction to play a pivotal role in defining and overseeing the construction of reactor containment and in-containment fabric across our future fleet.
As IDT Lead – In-Containment Construction, you will:
- Lead a cross-functional Integrated Delivery Team (IDT) responsible for shaping and coordinating the delivery of containment and in-containment construction.
- Foster collaboration among engineering, construction, procurement, commercial, and regulatory teams to create an optimised, standardised assembly process.
- Ensure technical robustness and commercial effectiveness, working across the organisation—including engaging with Executive Leadership to align strategy and drive successful execution.
Responsibilities
- Leading a cross-functional IDT to define and execute containment construction strategy
- Aligning engineering, construction, procurement, and supplier activities to deliver an integrated programme
- Developing and managing programme plans, including cost models, schedules, and resource allocation
- Mapping workflows, dependencies, and interfaces across internal and external stakeholders
- Establishing clear RACI frameworks to define responsibilities
- Driving visibility and alignment across organisational levels, including executive leadership
- Ensuring methodologies adhere to Rolls-Royce SMR construction and programme standards
- Identifying key value drivers across lifecycle and fleet deployment

Requirements
Experience & Skills
- Strong experience leading complex, matrixed programmes or integrated project teams
- Proven ability to influence and articulate complex delivery plans to senior stakeholders, including executive levels
- Extensive experience in construction, assembly, or major infrastructure programmes
- Robust commercial awareness, particularly in cost, risk, and value streams
- Understanding of regulated environments, preferably in nuclear or high-integrity industries
- Experience in process mapping, value stream mapping, and programme modelling
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline

- Excellent stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and leadership capabilities
- Ability to drive collaboration in cross-functional, hybrid environments
