Salary: £33.58 per hour
Location: Town Centre Campus, Burton on Trent

Who are we looking for?

Burton and South Derbyshire College are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic ILM Level 5 Leadership and Management Lecturer to join our Business and Professional Curriculum Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across ILM Level 5 Leadership and Management qualifications, including ILM 8607 and the newer ILM 8725 Level 5 Operational Leadership and Management Skills qualification.

Aimed at practising middle managers, project managers and department heads, these qualifications develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to take on greater leadership responsibilities. For learners undertaking ILM 8725, assessment is based on a portfolio of evidence, with topics including people management, organisational culture, project management, operational finance, decision-making, innovation and change.

The successful candidate will deliver an engaging evening class for 3 hours per week, supporting adult learners and employer-sponsored participants to develop practical leadership and management skills that can be applied directly in the workplace.

You will be able to motivate and inspire learners, support them to successfully complete written assignments and/or portfolio evidence, and help them make strong links between leadership theory, workplace practice and measurable business improvement.

The ideal candidate will bring current or recent experience in leadership, management, business, organisational development, HR, coaching, mentoring or professional education. You will have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of adult learning, and a commitment to delivering an outstanding learner experience.

The successful candidate will share our ethos and commitment to excellence, innovation and collaboration, and be passionate about helping learners stretch and challenge themselves to progress in their careers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
