Service Development, Improvement and Delivery Function

The service development, improvement, and delivery function supports the Trust to realize its vision to deliver Safe, Personal, and Effective care as outlined in the Trust’s Strategy and medium-term plan. The team supports the development of clear plans and their delivery through its improvement practice and programme delivery approach.

Role Purpose

The main purpose of this role is to work as an Improvement Practice Support Officer in the delivery and application of the Improvement Practice at ELHT (Improving Safe, Personal, and Effective Care (SPE+)). Working within allocated improvement projects and delivering SPE+ education and training, the post holder will support the divisions to implement the agreed work programs and achieve results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize specific improvement projects in line with agreed improvement priorities and programmes. This will entail planning the delivery and scheduling of new and ongoing improvement projects within Division, which may impact across or within Departments, Directorates, and other Divisions.
  • Monitor overall progress of specified improvement projects, supporting performance improvement or adjustment to plans where required and reporting progress.
  • Utilize Improvement A3s and other relevant project management methods/tools to provide assurance on progress and/or to escalate concerns, working with senior team members to ensure this is collated and presented appropriately on the Executive Improvement Wall and through other Care Group cascade mechanisms.
  • Analyse or compare a range of information appropriately (covering areas related to delivery/performance, quality, cost, and people) as relevant to improvement work being undertaken to identify options in agreeing a way forward.
  • Responsible for recording into and maintaining appropriate information systems relevant to Improvement Programmes and specific improvement projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
