Job Description
As an IMS Auditor supporting a major nuclear project, you will provide independent, objective, and evidence-based assurance on the adequacy, implementation, and effectiveness of the project's Integrated Management System and associated governance, compliance, and assurance arrangements.
The role plans and delivers risk-based IMS audits, targeted and functional IMS audit activities, produces clear and well-written reports, verifies action close-out, and supports continual improvement across a fast-paced, highly regulated project environment.
Reporting to the IMS Audits Manager, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, no direct line management responsibility, but significant influence across functional teams and project interfaces.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver a risk-based IMS Annual Audit Programme aligned with project priorities, certification requirements, and regulatory expectations.
- Plan and conduct IMS audits and targeted interventions using interviews, document reviews, sampling, observation, and objective evidence testing.
- Evaluate whether IMS arrangements are understood, implemented, controlled, and effective across the organisation and key interfaces.
- Produce clear, concise audit reports covering scope, evidence, findings, risks, good practice, and improvement opportunities.
- Strengthen Root Cause Analysis (RCA) by ensuring audit actions are tracked to closure, with corrective actions verified as timely and effective.
- Identify trends, recurring issues, and systemic weaknesses, providing insight and analysis to support decision-making and organisational learning.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships while maintaining auditor independence and the confidence to challenge constructively.
- Support external audits, certification activities, and continuous improvement of the IMS, including development of the Annual Audit Programme.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
