Title: Legal Counsel (3–5 PQE) Location: London (Hybrid – 1–2 days per week in office; fully remote considered for exceptional candidates) Employment type: Full-time (part-time considered)

About Fonix Fonix is a fast-growing, publicly listed payments and messaging technology company. We help some of the biggest brands in the UK and across Europe to engage customers and take frictionless mobile payments. Our platform processes millions of interactions every month and we are expanding into new markets and new products, including RCS-based payment solutions. As we scale, we are hiring our first in-house Legal Counsel (3–5 PQE). You’ll take ownership of day-to-day legal work, commercial contracting, and play an important role in supporting the company’s regulatory compliance across the UK, Ireland, Portugal and future European markets. This is a unique opportunity to shape how legal and compliance work at Fonix.

The Role We’re looking for a commercially-minded lawyer with strong contract experience who is also willing to take on responsibility for overseeing our compliance with phone-paid services regulation across multiple markets. No prior sector-specific regulatory experience is required — we will provide access to established regulatory guidance and internal subject matter knowledge. What matters is your ability to learn quickly, interpret rules pragmatically, and help ensure we operate compliantly in each market. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with the commercial, operations, and product teams to support our growth.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
