An international business operating in the shipping and maritime sector is seeking a Claims Lawyer to join its London-based legal team.

This is an opportunity to work on complex, high-value maritime claims and disputes while providing commercially focused legal advice to stakeholders across operations, chartering, technical, and safety functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a broad range of shipping and maritime claims.
  • Advising on charterparty, cargo, casualty, and contractual disputes.
  • Working closely with operational teams to assess risk and develop practical solutions.
  • Liaising with insurers, external counsel, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Supporting the business on legal strategy and claims resolution.

About You

  • Qualified lawyer with approximately 5-10+ years of post-qualification experience in shipping claims.
  • Experience in shipping, maritime law, or marine insurance.
  • Background gained in private practice, a P&I Club, insurer, or in-house environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage matters from inception through to resolution.
  • Commercially minded, proactive, and able to build relationships across a business.
