Inclusion Room Assistant | Dagenham (Term-Time Only)
Position: Inclusion Room Assistant | Location: Dagenham, Essex | Contract: Full-time (term-time only) | Temporary Start Date: September 2026 Pay: £90–£100 per day

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Dagenham is seeking a dedicated Inclusion Room Assistant to join their supportive SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) team.

Responsibilities
As an Inclusion Room Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one or small-group support to pupils needing additional help with learning, social integration, or emotional regulation
- Deliver targeted interventions (e.g., literacy, numeracy, behavioural strategies) in a structured, engaging environment
- Offer pastoral care and emotional support, helping pupils to stay settled, motivated, and engaged throughout the school day
- Collaborate closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and specialist staff to ensure the best support is in place for each child
- Work in a calm, inclusive, and positive setting that prioritises each child’s individual achievement and happiness
- Ensure all pupils are valued, respected, and able to access learning effectively
About the Role
This is a critical role within an organisation where the welfare and success of children are at the heart of everything. The Inclusion Room Assistant is a vital part of the school’s team, ensuring that vulnerable students receive the right support to flourish.
The Inclusion Room Assistant position sits under the leadership of experienced SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) and contributes to the school’s commitment to equal access to education.
Person Specification
Required attributes:
- A strong desire to work with children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
- Patient, compassionate, and nurturing nature with a real ability to build trust with students and staff
- Ability to build positive and cooperative relationships with pupils, offering reassurance and support
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to different communication styles
- Proven behaviour management skills, with the confidence to handle challenging situations calmly
- Commitment to the principle of inclusion — Believe in high expectations for all children, regardless of background or ability

Experience and Qualifications:
- Previous experience (paid or voluntary) supporting children with SEND or similar needs is advantageous
- No formal qualification is required, but enthusiasm, resilience, and the willingness to learn are essential
