Income Customer Service Officer

Income Customer Service Officer Permanent | 37.5 hours per week | Hybrid (2 days on-site | ~£39,167 per annum)

About the Role

We seek an Income Customer Service Officer to join our Income Customer Service team at Wandle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage leasehold and rent accounts, plus other housing-related debts, adhering to Wandle’s policies/procedures—acting swiftly where cases require intervention.
  • Negotiate repayment agreements with residents/leaseholders; if compliance falters, enforce corrective measures under the Ministry of Justice Pre-Action Protocol for Rent Possessions.
  • Engage proactively with residents in arrears via:
    • Home visits
    • Phone calls
    • Texts/emails
    • Office meetings (including some outreach outside standard working hours)
  • Prepare and submit County Court possession cases, attend hearings, and execute evictions when necessary due to arrears.
  • Identify vulnerable residents, liaising with the resident support team to deploy appropriate assistance.
  • Collaborate with Homeownership, Housing, and Legal teams to resolve complex cases.

Requirements

Must have:

  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Housing law
    • The regulatory framework, plus best practice for debt recovery
  • Familiarity with:
    • Leasehold charges (service charges/ground rent)
    • Court systems, legal remedies for possession, and precedents in debt recovery
  • Experience influencing cases in court transcripts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication (critical for negotiations and documentation).
