Role: Claims Consultant
Location: Hove Salary: £25,000 Team: Retail Claims
We are seeking a Customer-Facing Claims Consultant (permanent or temporary) to assist with Income Protection claims, ensuring they are handled efficiently, fairly, and with care.
Key Responsibilities
Setting up and managing new Income Protection claims
- Requesting and reviewing relevant medical evidence from GPs, specialists, or other healthcare providers
- Following agreed assessment timescales and reviewing claims thoroughly

Customer and Stakeholder Engagement
- Building positive relationships with customers, Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs), and third parties
- Handling inbound calls confidently, professionally, and empathetically
Process and Policy Compliance
- Maintaining accurate claims records while abiding by processes, legislation, and SLAs
- Identifying potential complaints or breaches and escalating them with appropriate action taken

Requirements
Experience and Expertise
- Demonstrated experience working in a claims, insurance, or customer-focused environment
- Experience or willingness to build knowledge of Income Protection products
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport in sensitive situations
Skills and Competencies
- A customer-centred approach and capability to manage carefully in emotionally sensitive discussions
- Strong judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to review information critically
- Competent use of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to manage workloads, deadlines, and priorities effectively
- A collaborative mindset willing to support broader team goals
