About our client and the role:
Swarm Recruitment are delighted to be supporting the recruitment of an Independent Financial Adviser on behalf of a well-established Chartered financial planning practice with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality, personalised financial advice across Dorset and the surrounding areas. Proudly independent, the practice is committed to helping clients achieve their financial goals through tailored advice, long-term relationships and exceptional service. Joining the practice means becoming part of a collaborative, client-focused team where advisers are given the support and autonomy to thrive. You'll inherit an established client bank with fully diarised meetings, benefit from a centralised investment proposition with the flexibility to recommend off-panel solutions where appropriate, and be supported by experienced paraplanners, administrators and compliance professionals. Alongside flexible hybrid working, exam support and an excellent benefits package, the firm offers an environment where the focus is firmly on delivering quality financial planning and building lasting client relationships, rather than chasing sales targets.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
