Description
Jerroms Financial Planning, part of the Sumer Group, is a well-established and growing directly authorised Independent Financial Advisory firm, managing more than £250 million of client assets and providing high-quality financial planning advice to individuals, families, business owners and SMEs.
We work closely with five Jerroms accountancy offices across the Midlands and a broader network of Sumer’s accounting firms throughout the UK.
These established professional relationships will provide you with regular client introductions and the opportunity to build long-term, trusted relationships with business owners, company directors and their families.
Our advisers benefit from a strong investment proposition, modern financial planning technology and experienced support from advisers, paraplanners and administrators. They also work alongside specialist departments across accountancy, tax, corporate finance, wills and estate planning, helping to ensure clients receive truly holistic advice.
The Role
We are looking for an ambitious and relationship-focused individual who wants to build a successful long-term career as an Independent Financial Adviser.
You may be an established adviser looking for greater independence, professional autonomy and the right long-term environment in which to build a fulfilling career, an adviser with experience of working directly with clients who has not yet achieved Competent Adviser Status, or an experienced paraplanner looking to move into advice.
Whether you are Chartered or Diploma qualified, what matters most to us is your professionalism, integrity, ability to build trust and commitment to delivering excellent long-term outcomes for clients.
Alongside building your own client bank, you will have the opportunity to take responsibility for existing client relationships, helping you to establish yourself and build momentum within the role.
You will be given the support and autonomy to develop trusted relationships with clients and professional colleagues while taking genuine ownership of your career.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We are looking for someone with the ambition and drive to make the most of the opportunities available and contribute to the continued growth of Jerroms Financial Planning.
Experience of advising clients is desirable, but existing Competent Adviser Status is not essential. Where further development is required, we will provide structured mentoring, supervision and support while expecting you to demonstrate the commitment required to progress.

What we can offer:

- Access to the strength and reputation of the Sumer Group and its established introducer network.
- The opportunity to build long-term relationships with accountancy firms and their clients.
