Independent Living Support Worker – Level 2 (Supported Accommodation) | Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £32,061 to £33,699 per annum | Grade G | Hub 1 Gurney Road, Norwich

In Norfolk, we have ambitious plans to enhance our work with young people and their families. Our Supported Accommodation service focuses on creating and promoting positive living environments for young people in the independent scheme.


About the Role

As an Independent Living Support Worker, you will provide direct support to young people, helping them develop and enhance their independent living skills. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in creating and implementing tailored support plans
  • Attending statutory reviews and other relevant meetings
  • Serving as a positive role model who fosters strong, trusting relationships with young people and their families
  • Ensuring the emotional and physical needs of young people are met while offering opportunities for their growth
  • Supporting team managers, assistant team managers, and senior support workers in management tasks, such as:
    • Inducting new staff
    • Conducting staff supervisions
    • Completing paperwork and relevant documentation

Responsibilities

  • Supporting Young People: Help young people navigate challenges and build resilience as they transition toward independent living.
  • Plan Implementation: Contribute to shaping and executing support plans while ensuring alignment with legal and organisational standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, psychologists, and other professionals.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve behavioural, emotional, or practical issues as they arise.
  • Out-of-Hours Availability: Regular availability for evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and on-call commitments as required.
  • Administration: Manage and track workflows, including filing, documentation, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Experience & Qualification: A pleasant, dependable attitude with robust support work experience (preferably in Supported Accommodation or working with children).
  • Driving: A full valid UK driving licence with discretionary access to a service vehicle.
  • NVQ/Qualification: An NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Communication: Excellent written and spoken communication skills to engage effectively with young people and colleagues.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to manage workloads, set priorities, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Role: Willingness to assume light management responsibilities where applicable.

Ideal Experience & Skills

  • Experience in social care, residential homes, or as a mentor.
  • Educational background in child psychology, social work, or related fields.
  • Willingness to actively participate in training and development opportunities.
  • Passion for empowering young adults toward self-sufficiency and personal growth.
