Role Overview

You will play a pivotal role in Camden’s Fostering Team, responsible for monitoring and reviewing the quality and effectiveness of foster carer support standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Chairing Independent Reviews: Conduct annual and ad-hoc fostering review meetings to assess and improve fostering care standards.
  • Identifying Strengths and Gaps: Pinpoint areas of excellence and deficiencies in social work assessments, foster care provision, and support systems for carers.
  • Practice Improvement: Challenge inefficient or poor-performing practices—both informally and formally—to drive better outcomes for carers and care families.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Comply with CQC (Care Quality Commission) and Ofsted regulations, ensuring thorough records of reviews and recommendations.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with foster carers, social work teams, and external partner agencies on practice development.

Requirements

Essential

  • Qualification: Social Work qualification recognised and registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Proven ability to chair complex meetings, advocate for diverse stakeholders, and collaborate across families, internal teams, and partner agencies.
  • Leadership: Senior/managerial experience in leading multiple complex cases and providing supervision.
  • Knowledge of Camden: Familiarity with local governance, policies, and processes.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

  • Extensive expertise in fostering review frameworks and child safeguarding compliance.
  • Track record in practice improvement through constructive challenge.
