About the Role
The Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Service provides Independent Visitor Volunteers to Children who are Looked After and the Care Leavers of Calderdale.
We are recruiting for the new post of Independent Visitor and Volunteer Coordinator whose role is to recruit, train, and support volunteers to fulfil the statutory role of Independent Visitor for children, as part of our ambition to ensure that children and young people receive the right support, at the right time.
Responsibilities
- Take a lead in the safe recruitment, assessment, training, and support of independent visitors and other volunteers in line with best practice and statutory guidance.
- Facilitate groups and training sessions for volunteers in nurturing long term supportive relationships with the young people they befriend and engage with.
- Be part of a supportive team alongside colleagues delivering the Children's Rights and Advocacy service, receiving regular supervision and guidance as you develop this new role.
Requirements
- Hold grade C/4 or above in English and Maths or have demonstrable experience.
- A level 3 or above qualification in a relevant subject is essential, e.g., Childcare, Youth Work, Health and Social Care.
- A UK Driving Licence is essential for the post.
- Good knowledge of children’s safeguarding practices and safe recruitment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people, including children and young people.
- Confident in the arranging and facilitating of events and training sessions for volunteers.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to local practice and policy.

About Us

This role is based in the UK. Home Office guidance states that candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK prior to commencing employment, either as a UK or Irish citizen, under the EU Settlement scheme, or having secured any other relevant work visa.
