Company: Unusual Technologies Ltd

Location: Fully Remote / Flexible Hours

Position: Full-Time or Fractional/Part-Time

Compensation: £30,000 Base Stipend + High-Upside Active Revenue Share (Up to 30% post-break-even)

Experience: Open to exceptional, data-minded graduates who show drive and autonomy but you will be the whole department, so it will likely go to someone experienced.

Our Studio & Our New Chapter

For years, we have been elite technical creators. We use game engines to build highly polished interactive experiences, gamification systems, and immersive tech for museums and corporate clients. We know exactly how to build incredible software.

Now, we are taking an exciting leap into commercial video games. Our challenge is ensuring we build exactly what players want so we want to give a say in the design to our marketer who will own this market validation process, and then build the audience as we build the game.

This Role

While this is a leadership role in terms of strategy, we are a small, flat team. You won't be managing a large department or an agency; you will be a solo operator researching data, testing hooks, creating content, and building a community with your own hands.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Duties

  • Identify Market Potential: Use data platforms (SteamDB, VG Insights, GameDiscoverCo) to analyse Steam genres, identify under-served market niches, and help our dev team decide what to build next.
  • Validate Ideas Early (Smoke Testing): Help us create concept storefronts, target hooks, and short alpha-trailers to test player interest and drive early wishlists before full production begins.
  • Own the Steam Funnel: Completely manage our store presence, from tag optimization and capsule art A/B testing to navigating Steam Next Fests.
  • Organic Content Creation: Cut gameplay clips and craft engaging, authentic short-form videos (TikTok, YouTube Shorts) that highlight our game mechanics.
  • Community & Creator Outreach: Establish our Discord/Reddit ecosystems and directly pitch our prototypes to the specific influencers and streamers who love our target genres.

  • You view marketing as an analytical science and a psychological puzzle, not just "social media promotion."
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and get excited by the challenge of defining a product's market fit from scratch.
  • You are highly organized, deeply reliable, and thrive when left entirely alone to manage your own schedule and priorities.
  • If you are a recent graduate: You are the one-in-a-million candidate who doesn't just talk about "passion for games," but can actively explain how the Steam visibility algorithm works and how indie games successfully position themselves against AAA competitors.

This Is Not For You If...

  • You prefer high-level theoretical consulting over rolling up your sleeves to write copy, edit videos, and chat with community members.
