Description
The Indirect Tax Advisor sits within the Corporate Tax and VAT team. The candidate will be part of a supportive and collaborative team working to ensure that the business continues to be compliant with local indirect tax legislation in multiple countries across Europe.
The main role will involve assisting with managing the VAT compliance obligations of UK and Non-UK Entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurate preparation and timely filing of VAT Returns for all business units across multiple jurisdictions across UK and Europe.
- Prepare and/or Review Intrastat, EC Sales List and other Statutory returns for EU VAT registration cross numerous European countries including a review function.
- Work with external advisers to manage the VAT return preparation and/or filing process, ensuring adherence to both internal and statutory deadlines.
- Manage queries from internal business areas in relation to tax approvals of transactions and supply chain, including reviewing the VAT treatment.
- Manage VAT coding override functionality in ETRMS and ERPS.
- Provide accurate and applicable tax decisions to Operators and Settlement team in relation to invoicing.
- Manage monthly reporting and review of VAT balances and VAT general ledger account.
- Manage reconciliation all entries in VAT Registers against Settlements Reports.
- Support the wider team with reconciliation of the VAT creditor account in SAP and SAP Hana.
- Identify ways to improve efficiency, to enhance and streamline existing VAT Compliance processes.
- Assist with audits and queries from tax authorities.

- Indirect tax experience and understanding of accountancy for VAT purposes preferred, but not essential.
- At least 3 years of working experience in a similar Finance department.
- Experience in Commodities industry preferable but not essential.
- Strong excel skills required.
- Ability to meet deadlines and to complete assignments within a reasonable timeframe.
- Must be able to work without close supervision.
- Ability to build relationships across the business to support teams with a variety of business issues.
