The role: As an Indirect Tax Analyst, you’ll play a key role in ensuring Babcock meets its indirect tax and compliance obligations across a complex, global organisation. Supporting the Indirect Tax Manager and Head of Indirect Tax, you’ll help drive accuracy, consistency, and continuous improvement in tax processes that underpin vital defence, aerospace, and engineering programmes.

This is an exciting opportunity to grow your career in a high-impact finance and tax environment, where your expertise contributes directly to responsible business operations and compliance at scale. Day-to-day, you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of tax matters while working collaboratively across finance, procurement, and operational teams.


Responsibilities

  • Preparing and reviewing:
    • Value Added Tax (VAT)
    • Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
    • PAYE Settlement Agreement returns
  • Ensuring all tax returns are completed and submitted accurately and on time across the business
  • Supporting the development and standardisation of tax processes, procedures, and documentation
  • Building relationships across the organisation to embed strong tax compliance and awareness
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to systems, controls, and tax reporting processes

This role operates full time (37.5 hours per week) and provides hybrid working arrangements, requiring an office presence once a month or based on project requirements.


Requirements

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrating experience within an indirect tax or tax compliance role
  • Ability to apply knowledge of cross-border indirect tax rules for goods and services
  • Understanding of core financial and accounting principles
  • Analysing data and interpreting tax regulations to provide clear insights
  • Managing multiple priorities and solving problems in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

  • Either hold or be working towards/willing to work towards a relevant professional qualification such as:
    • ACA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
    • ACCA (Chartered Accountants)
    • CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser)
    • AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians)

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard)/Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
