About the Role

A boutique investment banking advisory firm is seeking an experienced and technically strong VAT professional for Senior Associate / Manager role within the London-based tax team. This role is designed to provide additional senior capacity within the VAT function during a period of increased business growth and strategic change. The successful candidate will support the delivery of day-to-day VAT compliance across EMEA and Asia Pacific, reviewing the work of an Associate, whilst supporting the Senior Manager on technical advisory matters, and VAT engagement reviews.

Main Responsibilities

  • Preparation, review and coordination of UK returns, and non-UK VAT/GST returns across 12 territories in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
  • Review of VAT returns and supporting workpapers prior to submission, ensuring technical accuracy and appropriate documentation.
  • Preparation and review of monthly VAT general ledger reconciliations and SOX compliance files.
  • Application and review of partial exemption methodologies (including PESM), capital goods scheme adjustments, and reverse charge transactions where applicable.
  • Review of inter-company transactions and application of appropriate VAT treatment across jurisdictions.
  • Responding to VAT queries from the business, finance teams, and other stakeholders, including providing technical input on non-routine transactions and initiatives.
  • Review of VAT-related provisions within engagement letters and responding to VAT queries raised by clients and deal teams.
  • Providing support and technical guidance to the VAT Associate, helping to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of VAT compliance.
  • Providing cover for the VAT Manager during periods of absence, including technical sign-off of VAT returns and engagement-related VAT matters (subject to appropriate authorisation).
  • Participation in VAT-related projects, including global e-invoicing implementation and inter-company VAT process reviews.
  • Liaising with external advisers and tax authorities as required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
