Hays is delighted to be partnering with a globally recognised engineering, infrastructure and professional services organisation to recruit an Indirect Tax Manager - UK & Europe. Operating across numerous jurisdictions and delivering complex, high-profile projects worldwide, the business has a well-established international presence and an ambitious growth strategy. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded Group Tax function in a visible role with responsibility for UK and European indirect tax matters. The position offers broad exposure across compliance, advisory, governance and business partnering within a large multinational environment.
Your new role
As Indirect Tax Manager, you will take ownership of UK VAT compliance whilst supporting indirect tax activities across several European jurisdictions. You will act as the key VAT specialist for the business, providing robust technical advice and ensuring compliance obligations are met accurately and efficiently.

- Ownership of end-to-end UK VAT compliance processes
- Review and oversight of UK VAT returns and associated submissions
- Review and support of VAT compliance across Ireland, France, Germany, Switzerland and other European jurisdictions
- Advising on major projects, cross-border transactions and joint operations
- Acting as the key contact for HMRC and managing VAT-related enquiries
- Supporting SAO reporting requirements relating to VAT
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced indirect tax professional with strong technical VAT expertise gained within either industry, practice or a combination of both.
You will ideally possess:
- Professional tax qualification (CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Significant UK VAT technical knowledge
- Experience managing VAT compliance processes within a complex organisation
- Proven ability to provide practical VAT advice on commercial transactions
- Experience liaising with HMRC and external advisers
