About the Role
The Industrial Cybersecurity Expert (ICSE) serves as the primary cybersecurity point of contact at Siemens Energy’s manufacturing sites, ensuring cybersecurity requirements are met in manufacturing and refurbishment environments. Collaborating closely with local IT teams, factory departments, cybersecurity peers, and the Manufacturing Cybersecurity Team, this critical role drives security measures, technical improvements, and risk mitigation across OT/IT assets to safeguard essential operations.
Your expertise will be instrumental in strengthening existing cybersecurity frameworks, implementing new protection measures, and maintaining compliance—while directly supporting Siemens Energy’s commitment to sustainable, secure, and reliable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Perform vulnerability management, incident handling, and support for disaster recovery & business continuity management, ensuring resilience against cyber threats.
- Conduct asset compliance checks and risk assessments for OT/IT infrastructure across assigned manufacturing sites.
- Drive and implement industrial cybersecurity measures for Operational Technology (OT)/Information Technology (IT) environments, aligning with Siemens’ global cybersecurity policies.
- Act as the industrial cybersecurity focal point, liaising with:
- The Industrial Cybersecurity Officer (ICSO)
- The Principal Cybersecurity Officer (PCSO)
- On-site IT, factory, and supplier teams
- Qualify cyber-secure suppliers, ensuring third-party vendors meet Siemens Energy’s stringent cybersecurity standards.
- Engage in architecture and design phases of manufacturing/production systems, integrating security by design principles.
- Lead and participate in periodic audits of OT/IT systems, providing evidentiary focus to validate compliance and effectiveness.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Degree: Bachelor’s or higher in cybersecurity, engineering, computer science, or a related field (preferably with an OT/manufacturing focus).
- Experience:
- 10+ years of professional cybersecurity experience, with a preference for manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Flexibility to consider candidates with less experience for entry-level positions or more experience for higher-grade roles.
- Certifications: Strongly preferred—CISSP, CRISC, or GICSP (or equivalent industry-standard certifications).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
