Our Industrial Placement Programme
Our Industrial Placement Programme offers you the chance to:

Spend a year with us, working on meaningful projects.

Collaborate with subject matter experts in multidisciplinary teams.

Work across the product lifecycle.

Receive a salary of £25,000 alongside coaching and support from a dedicated team.
This includes help with achieving both your placement objectives and personal development goals.
Successful completion of an Industrial Placement with Leonardo may also lead to an offer on our Graduate Development Programme.
- Encouraged to spend at least three days each week on-site.
- Goal: Integrate with your team and maximise your learning experience.
What You Will Do as an Industrial Placement Software Engineer
- Work with highly skilled professionals passionate about designing and developing cutting-edge technology for a global market.
- Report to an experienced Software Engineer for daily guidance and on-the-job training.
- Introduced to software development processes and state-of-the-art methods, technology, and tools.
- Gain experience in one or more aspects of the software development lifecycle, such as:
- Applied research
- Requirements analysis
- Design
- Implementation
- Integration
- Testing

Qualifications
Required
- Currently studying a science-based degree:
- Software Engineering
- Computer Science
- Physics
- Mathematics
- Electronic Engineering (BSc (Hon) / BEng (Hon) / MEng)
- Enjoy a relevant gap in studies.
- Have some experience of programming.
- Show enthusiasm and passion for designing software and writing code.
Preferable but not essential
- Knowledge of an object-oriented programming language (e.g. C++).
- Familiarity with UML (Unified Modelling Language).

Open to: Candidates who have completed a first degree and wish to gain industrial experience before pursuing a relevant higher degree:

Security Clearance
This role requires pre-employment screening as per the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Potential additional checks (may include):
- The Security Check (SC) eligibility requirements.
- Developed Vetting (DV).
