Industrial Product Assistant – Pre-Production Manufacturing

Location: Hawick

We are seeking proactive and driven internal applicants for our new Industrial Product Assistant role. This position will support the Industrial and Pre-Production teams in the development, administration, and approval of luxury knitwear products.

The role involves:

  • Managing product information and quality/technical approval processes
  • Coordinating testing activities for development and external customers
  • Ensuring submissions meet production requirements
  • Developing high standards in methods and service to exceed customer expectations

About the Role

The Industrial Product Assistant plays a pivotal role in pre-production, supporting the manufacture of prototypes and submissions for bulk production. Responsibilities include maintaining documentation, verifying compliance, and enhancing operational excellence across product development cycles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and issue test panels for both internal development and external customer requirements
  • Manage and verify garment composition declarations and related product information
  • Maintain and review product data across:
    • Internal systems
    • Databases
    • Nomenclature records
    • Colourway documentation
  • Support garment labelling and packaging specification preparation
  • Update and organise Industrial team shared folders and product documentation
  • Photograph, catalogue, and track pre-production trials and submissions
  • Assist in measuring and assessing submissions against technical standards and specifications
  • Ensure quality, technical, and production compliance prior to final approval

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of knitwear manufacturing and post-production finishing processes
  • Degree-level qualification in:
    • Fashion
    • Textiles
    • Product Development
    • Related discipline
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise multiple collections effectively under tight deadlines
  • Strong organisational abilities with relentless attention to detail
  • Proactive and solutions-focused mindset with:
    • Empathy for continuous improvement
    • Ability to innovate and drive best practices
  • Awareness of industry benchmarks with commitment to quality and operational standards
  • Collaborative spirit to build cross-departmental relationships
