This exciting technical placement offers you the perfect opportunity to apply your skills to real-world projects that challenge and develop your potential. You’ll receive hands-on training and the chance to build a rewarding career in construction, working on projects that span the entire contract lifecycle—from pre-contract Estimating and Design, through to mobilisation, site works, and contract completion.
You will be based with the Operations team, working in a hybrid format (office + field), where you'll support various phases of project delivery. This role offers the exciting opportunity to get hands-on experience and directly apply your theoretical knowledge to real-world projects.
Primary Goal
The primary goal of this placement is to give you a comprehensive understanding of the various aspects of ground improvement in real-world projects, while providing a safe and supportive environment for you to grow and develop as an engineer.

Key Tasks
- Oversee the on-site management of projects, ensuring the technical, administrative, and commercial aspects are executed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Lead and manage the performance of ground improvement projects, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring successful project delivery.
- Collaborate with the design team to ensure that designs meet Works Procedures and are aligned with project requirements.
- Assist in preparing designs and cost estimates in accordance with Menard’s technical requirements.
- Take responsibility for contract administration, ensuring accurate record-keeping and adherence to contractual obligations.
- Stay informed of the latest technological advancements and design developments, incorporating them into projects and ongoing professional development.
- Ensure that all site activities are carried out safely, meeting regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Knowledge & Experience Required
- Minimum of 2 years undergraduate university completed in an accredited B Eng/ M Eng Program
- Driving Licence preferred
- Clear drive and ambition
- Flexible in the role and ability to adapt
- Team Player
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Management
- Strong computer skills - focused on Excel / Word / PowerPoint
CSCS Card (required for site based roles but will be arranged by Menard if not already held)
Physical Working Environment
You will be hybrid (office + field) based with visits to site and external meetings as required. This role will involve travel and living and working away from home at times during the week.
