How you'll make a difference
As an Information, Advice and Guidance Officer, you will help ensure children and families can access the right support at the right time by developing and maintaining our public facing directory of services. By keeping the information accurate and up to date, you will enable service users to be directed to support that best meets their individual needs.
What you will be doing
You will be responsible for researching, collecting and accurately maintaining an up-to-date directory of services that can be used by residents and professionals, specifically relating to children, young people and their families, including those with SEND. It will be key for you to increase service levels through promotion and awareness work, as well as liaising with other specialist colleagues to maximise support for families. You will improve user trust and satisfaction with the current IAG offer amongst key service users. It will be your responsibility to produce reports and provide updates on work that has been completed. Using your networking skills, you will target local community groups and organisations, forming positive relationships with them.
What we need from you
You must be a confident communicator who can adapt your approach to suit a wide range of stakeholders and to liaise with providers and partners through various channels to develop positive working relationships. You will be able to collate, produce and edit directory content in plain English and accessible language so it is appropriate for a diverse audience, including people with cognitive or communication needs. It is essential that you have an understanding of the needs of children and families, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). You will have excellent IT and numeracy skills, including the ability to accurately update information systems and databases.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
