Information and Cyber Security Operations Engineer

Cyber Security Operations Engineer – RSM UK

About the Role

As one of the world’s largest networks of audit, tax and consulting firms, RSM delivers big ideas and premium service to help middle-market businesses thrive. We are a fast-growing firm with bold ambitions—to become the premium adviser to the middle market, globally.

At RSM, we inspire ourselves to make a real difference every day. If you’re looking for a place where you can build a fulfilling career and impact change, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

The Cyber Security Operations Engineer will work closely with our Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) to protect our systems, networks, and information assets. Your role will include:

  • Define and governance security configurations across Microsoft security tools (e.g., Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel) and key third-party platforms (Mimecast, Palo Alto Prisma, Cortex XDR).
    • Implement and maintain security policies, settings, and exemptions.
  • Oversee MSSP performance to ensure robust monitoring, detection, and incident response.
    • Act as a key escalation and response partner during security incidents.
  • Prioritise and manage security use cases, rules, and alerts for improved MDR/XDR implementation.
    • Focus on enhancing detection coverage and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain SecOps continuous improvement initiatives—automating processes, optimising workflows, and upgrading security detection capabilities (for both RSM UK and MSSP).
  • Define, document, and maintain operational knowledge, including:
    • Incident response processes
    • Run-books
    • A central knowledge base for MDR/XDR alerts

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
