We are currently partnering an established Higher Education provider in the West Midlands, who are looking to appoint an Information Compliance Manager on a permanent basis.

The role offers hybrid working (2-days home working) and a salary in the region of £30,000 - £32,000 per annum, with potential progression up to £36,000 once in the role.

Duties

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing the response to Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, including police and third-party requests, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
  • Conducting thorough research and analysis to support legal inquiries and case management
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to legal cases, ensuring confidentiality and data protection compliance
  • Providing guidance on legal matters, particularly concerning freedom of speech and its implications within the university context
  • Assisting in responding to inquiries from students and staff regarding legal issues and university policies
  • Working closely with the Assistant Director and other team members to ensure effective legal support and communication

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience managing FOI and SAR responses
  • Higher Education experience desirable, but not essential

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise required

  • Attention to detail and written communication skills
  • Highly proficient IT skills, in particular the ability to handle complex electronic diaries and emails, MS Office programmes including Word, Teams, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build effective and trusting partnerships, and work in a collaborative way
